After awhile of pretty much begging River to come with me after the whole thing with the ring, she (finally!) agreed to come. She wasn’t letting me off easy though……anyways, after a few failed attempts of complementing her, we landed at Asgard. Lovely planet, very lush, hardly inhabited…….Well, save a few Dreiden….and a certain talking lizard to whom I owe a grasshopper. Don’t ask. But the Dreiden died out awhile ago, I think, and as for the Talking Lizard….well, let’s just say I’d prefer to avoid him for the time being. Anyway, we started to make our way to a waterfall I knew of. I’d been here before, so along the way I told River everything about Asgard- she was absolutely enchanted, but, what I didn’t tell her that in my pocket, was a ring. The same ring we had fought over. As we were walking, the only thing I could think of was Don’t let it take a third try, Doctor. We found the waterfall, and sat down to a picnic. I fished for the ring, which took me awhile.”Man alive, I think bigger-on-the-inside pockets were better on paper.” I said, hoping for any sort of laugh, I would have even settled for a “very funny, doctor.” But before she could say anything, there was a rustle in a tree. “What was that?” asked River. I sighed. “Not good. Not by any stretch of the imagination, good.” Before anything else happened, I told River one word. Just one. One that is repeated a lot when you travel with me. “RUN!” We ran. At the corner of her mouth I could see a little smile creeping up, just tiny, but big enough. “Do you all have big conferences on how best to ruin my personal life?” I yelled back at them. With the Dreiden behind me, I had a little time to explain while we ran. “Ok, ok, I ran. But who the heck are they?” asked River, out of breath. “Dreiden. add it to the list. They feed off memories- they-” I faltered, almost tripping over a rock “they steal them until you’re nothing but a shell of what you used to be, no memories at all.” I said. We stopped in front of the waterfall, I sent river a thought, warning her. Keep away from them- those belts project and amplify their telepathic abilities. If they get in your head you don’t stand a chance. She nodded understanding. “We are so very hungry… won’t you join us for dinner?” They’re also very bad at making jokes. I told River, trying hopelessly to get a smile. My gosh, she’s stubborn when she wants to be. We weighed our options. Option a) jump in to the water, but they will swim after us b) they get us anyways or -the most favorable- c) River jumps into the water. River wasn’t fond of the last one. Again, stubborn. “I’m not leaving you, Doctor!” They were getting closer- I was starting to feel dizzy. Probably River was too, unless they were only focusing on me. “Yes, you are! Either they get both of us or they get one of us, and that one is not going to be you!” I said.“I really don’t want to do this, Doctor.” She sighed. “You have to.” I said, firmly “No, not that. This.” With that, she pushed me in to the waterfall. “No!” I yelled, quickly, not that it did any good. A split second later, I hit the water. I thought for a second on what would be the best way to get River. If i jumped up, the Dreiden might leave River alone and focus on me…although, maybe if I stayed in the water, then I could chase after them with out them knowing. I reached in my pocket for the sonic, which might disable them for a little…Argh! The sonic doesn’t do water! I waited in the water for a moment or two, long enough to give the Dreiden to get ahead, just enough that I sneak behind them.I followed them for around ten minuets before I lost them. Luckily the sonic had dried and I could track them. It took a little longer, but I found them eventually. Little late for River though. “You’re too late, Time Lord. Soon her memories will be ours, and she we be nothing but an empty shell.” said a Dreiden (Apparently, their leader.)
After this whole scoff about an engagement ring I found in the TARDIS, the Doctor trailed after me into Stormcage.
“Let me make it up to you. Please.”
“Why should I?” I thought he was the biggest cad in the world- just leading me on and then going off to get married! I honestly didn’t even have the nerve to hope that… well, let’s leave it unsaid, shall we?
“Exactly.” That threw me. Of course, the Doctor usually does, and after a short bit of chiding and an ‘I know you shouldn’t forgive me’ speech, I caved. He took me to a place called Asgard, a wild planet full of beautiful forests and plains, with very little settlements or developments. We’d actually landed in a park in one of the small towns, but we were out if there and into the woods in no time, having a picnic in a forest clearing next to a waterfall.
“It’s beautiful here.” I said.
“So are you.” He said, but I remember I just glared at him. Not the time. “River, please. You have to understand…” He started fiddling in his pocket for something, but then we heard a rustle in the trees.
“What was that?” I whispered.
“Probably something bad.”
“How probably?”
“Almost definitely.” About that time several creatures stepped from the forest- they looked vaguely human, but had no clothing save belts around their waists, and were colored red, yellow, and green. The Doctor grabbed my hand. “We should run.”
Pulling me to my feet, we took off through the trees. I tried asking him what those things were, but I didn’t get much until we stopped to hide halfway back to the TARDIS.
“Those things are Dreiden. They feed off memories- they steal them until you’re nothing but a shell of what you used to be, no memories at all. You’re a baby in an adult’s body.”
“So… they’re memory vampires?” I said, almost chuckling at the thought. He opened his mouth to scold me, but was interrupted.
“Time Lord. We know you’re here. Show yourself or we will be forced to find you.” The Doctor sent me a thought. Keep away from them- those belts project and amplify their telepathic abilities. If they get in your head you don’t stand a chance. I nodded. “We are so very hungry… won’t you join us for dinner?” They’re also very bad at making jokes. And a nine hundred year old Time Lord would be their perfect dinner date. I held back a laugh, but the smiles went away when the rustling got louder. The Doctor caught my eye, a look that said without words, ‘Run.’ He counted down on his fingers, 3…2…1…. And suddenly we burst out of the trees and scrambled through the forest.
It was so strange- I could feel them. I could feel them trying to reach out to my mind, like a big black cloud threatening to block all my senses, but we were just a bit too far out of reach for it to engulf us. I thought we were heading towards the park where the TARDIS was, following the river, but apparently we were going the wrong direction, because suddenly we were standing at the edge of a waterfall.
“What do we do now?” He thought for a second, frantically babbling.
“If we jump, they follow us, and then catch us in the water. If we don’t, they get us anyways.” The Doctor stopped for a second and looked at me. “River, you have to go without me.” I could have sworn he was insane if I hadn’t known it already.
“I’m not leaving you, Doctor!” They were getting closer- I could feel it. Dizziness started to come on.
“Yes, you are! Either they get both of us or they get one of us, and that one is not going to be you!” I couldn’t believe him.
“I really don’t want to do this, Doctor.” I sighed.
“You have to.” He said very seriously. I laughed.
“No, not that. This.” And with that I pushed him into the river and over the waterfall. He would survive- the pool at the bottom was deep and he was smart enough not to land in a way that would break bones. About that time those things came through the trees.
“Ah. The Time Lord’s little friend has come to redeem him.” One said.
I was planning on fighting them, I really was, but all I can remember after that moment is blacking out. I woke up strapped to a chair with metal cuffs around my wrist. Those creatures were walking around me, five or six of them. They pulsed with their own internal light, and I realized that my skin was pulsing with a milky white light as well.
About that time I realized it was pulsing in time to my own heartbeat.
“Your memories are not as bountiful as the Time Lord’s are, but just as… tantalizing.” The monster said, licking its lips. I couldn’t remember their names. They must have been draining my memories out of me- I didn’t have the strength to struggle as scenes flashed before my eyes and then were lost. I remember the Doctor coming in, but I didn’t know who he was.
“You’re too late, Time Lord. Soon her memories will be ours, and she we be nothing but an empty shell.”
“No.” He said. “Because I’m not going to let you do that.” He held the sonic to the control panel. “You let her go right now or I will fry your entire storage system. All the memories you’ve ever had- ever eaten- gone. If she dies, we all die with her.” The thing smiled smugly.
“Fine.” The cuffs released. “I can see into your mind. The process is already past the point of no return. It will cause you more pain and suffering to have her like this. And we will have you as well.” I blacked out again at that point. I have no idea how the Doctor got us out of there, but I woke up on my bed in the Tardis with him standing beside me. I couldn’t remember him.
“Who are you? Where am I?” I asked. “Who… who am I?” I placed my hand on my forehead in a feeble effort to stop the dizziness. He helped me sit up and took my hands, kneeling on the floor in front of me, almost pleading with my mind.
“Melody. Melody Pond.” He said. It rang a bell- very, very faint. “Remember. I know you can. Remember your mother’s hair and your father’s smile. Remember the bookshop where I found you. Remember the little blue box and the mad man who flies around in it.” Little things- bits and pieces flashed, but nothing significant.
“I… I can’t.” I said. I was beginning to become very frightened.
“Please! I know it’s in there!” His voice got louder. “Remember the very first trip I took you on, how you wanted to go back to where you were born. Remember how you kissed me goodbye and my face turned red; remember how you saved my life!” I was crying now- the flashes becoming more and more real. He shook his head sadly, whispering. “Remember me, my River Song.” Then he cradled my face in his hands and kissed me. I sort of… felt something. Like this pang in my chest, like… love. And then I remembered (it was a little painful to have memories come back all at once), so I kissed him back.
“Doctor. My Doctor.” I whispered. He smiled his giddy little boy smile back at me.
“Marry me?” He asked.
“What?” My heart went in my throat. That was a little random to me, but not unappreciated. So that ring really was mine.
“Marry me.” He said. “Be my wife.” My response was to veritably tackle him to the floor with a hug and to kiss him until I laughed so hard I couldn’t anymore. He groaned a little and sat up. “I’ll take that as a yes.” He said, pulling something out of his pocket. It was a small silver ring with blue stones set in it- TARDIS blue.
“Yes. Yes, yes, yes!” I said. He slipped it on my finger as we stood. “So, that picnic, the ring- you were trying to propose?” He shrugged sheepishly.
“Well, yeah. It didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped… I think other aliens look for ways to ruin my personal life…” I was so happy- then I remembered something.
“Doctor? Before… back at the ship… you said if I died then we’d all die, but… that’s not true. You could have made it out alive without any trouble.” He shook his head seriously.
“No. I would have died if I lost you.” He said. I’m not sure if my heart swelled or broke, or swelled till it broke, but it did something, and I had to fight back tears from my smile.

Ok. So. Ring? good. Picnic basket? check. Looking as handsome as ever? Double check. I thought while I was pressing a few buttons on the tardis to land in stormcage. A few seconds later the tardis landed and a very excited River ran up to the bars. “Where to?” River asked while I was sonicing the lock. “Oh, I was thinking maybe a picnic?” I asked. “Lovely!” River answered, ignoring the alarms and running in to the tardis. I soniced the alarms so that they would stop and walked towards the tardis. When i got in, river was leaning over the controls with an surprised, angry look on her face. “Well, well, well. what have we here?” She said while tossing a small red object in the air. I blinked. “What are you even talking ab—-” I began, but before i could finish, River stopped tossing the object and held it in her out-stretched hand. Oh. The ring box. I should have probably put back in to the basket…. “Oh, that….the ring…yeah, its nothing.” I tried. “Nothing?” she scoffed. “Now, I must say, I’m not the smartest woman on this planet but I’m smart enough to know this isn’t nothing!” I sighed. Well, this plan was ruined. “Well don’t yell at me!” I said.”Yell?” she asked
”I’m trying to be calm. I just found a ring. in the tardis. And i’m sure it’s yours.”
“You wouldn’t believe it’s a friends?” I offered.
“Sure, Some girl accidentally left her engagement ring in the tardis.”
“It’s Amy’s!” I tried.
“Oh, please! Like i wouldn’t know what her ring looked like.” She said.
Oh great. Just lovely. “Honestly, river,” i started “You don’t want to know.”
“Oh, i wouldn’t want to know would I?.” She said, smirking. “I wouldn’t want to know what you are doing with a ring?”
We went back and forth like this for a while, before river stormed off to her room in the tardis. I was smart enough to put the tardis in flight so she couldn’t go anywhere. We landed at a park. I considered actually going and getting River, but she didn’t answer when i called so i figured it was useless. After awhile, river came out and asked “So then, ready to tell me the truth?” “No, not really. What took you so long? It felt like a life time, and that’s saying something from me.” “Fine then. Want to know something, though?” “What?”i asked. “It sort of maybe, possibly, almost exactly, fits.” She answered, raising her eyebrows and waiting to see what i would answer. “It…it does? Well, that’s very interesting! What do you know. And, um, if it’s ok, I think you should probably, uh..get back, since that picnic is out of the question.”I fumbled. “Not completely. Doctor, just whose ring is this?” River said. “Mine!” I said, hoping to fully avoid the question, though, i didn’t think for a second i could. “Right. But who were you going to give it to?” Asked River. “No one. Right then, Stormcage, they’ll be missing you!” I said pressing buttons around the tardis. She didn’t join me. “Fine.” she grumbled. We landed. “See you later river!” I said, leaning over to kiss her. “Not.a.chance.” she said, pulling back and running towards her cell. I sighed. Well, at least i knew that eventually, i would actually get the chance to purpose…

The Doctor picked up me, Amy, and Rory today, and for once he actually agreed to go to the beach! Well… he agreed to, until we wound up landing in the depths of Antarctica. Most of the time I love the TARDIS, but she can get on your last nerve. I changed into pants and a warm coat, and Amy and Rory went inside to hunt down suitable clothing while the Doctor and I went exploring.
“So, why are we actually here?” I asked.
“Can’t fool you, can I?” He smirked.
“Not for a second.”
“Fine, then. Picked up a signal. Something alien. Might be nothing, but hey- you, me, danger. It’s how it always goes, isn’t it?”
“How many regenerations? How many different TARDISs? That will never change.” A second later Rory and Amy walked out, clad in two heavy coats each. Amy was complaining the rest of the time, probably sweating because Rory didn’t want her to catch cold. We wandered into an ice cave- it was beautiful. Light danced off the walls as for as you could see, and at the back there was something frozen in a chunk of ice. I didn’t hear the Doctor’s warning.
“We should thaw it!” I guess the night school has gotten to me. Thaw it I did, and quickly too, with the blaster I keep on me all the time now.
“NO!” He said, but it was a bit late for the warning. A large metal man was inside, mouth lighting up blue as it called out one word, over and over.
“DELETE. DELETE.” We ran out of the cave as fast as we could, trying not to slip on the ice.
‘River Po- I mean, er. Song. you, had to thaw it, didn’t you? Oh, for goodness sake you had to thaw it!” He yelled as we ran out, probably embarrassed at his slip-up.
“I didn’t know, Sweetie!” I said, turning a corner.
“What part of NOT GOOD didn’t you hear, dearest?!”
“Not.” We nearly crashed into Rory and Amy as we all piled into the TARDIS, but the Doctor didn’t put it in flight.
“Why aren’t we leaving?” asked Amy.
“There’s an alien!” I said, thinking it was obvious.
“He’s an ALIEN!” yelled Amy. We sighed.
“Amy, listen. There’s an alien, yes, but why is it here? Why was it frozen? Think, Pond!” The Doctor said, gesturing madly. “Well, stay in the TARDIS then.” He joked, finding her weak spot, and mine for that matter. Rory finally voiced his opinion on the matter.
“Ok, I have an objection. It’s cold. There is a metal alien outside the door, and he is yelling “delete” which doesn’t sound appealing to me. Anyone with me?”
“NO!” Everyone shouted. When we looked outside, the thing was gone.
“I’m happy about this…is anyone else happy about this?” The Doctor and I just rolled our eyes and paid him no mind.
After trying and failing to explain the concept of Cybermen to Amy, the Doctor did a little thinking on the matter, consisting of about five seconds of silence during which you could practically see the smoke coming out his ears. Then he clapped his hands together and started jumping around the console.
“While you all where squabbling,Ii found a magnificent amount of energy here, thanks to the sonic. It was probably used as a transport….or a hair dryer, but I’m working on that, hairdryers and sonics just don’t mix. Anyways, because it’s very unlikely the cyberman was drying his hair, then it was probably a transport beam…” Besides the funny mental picture of a Cyberman drying his hair, I was completely following him.
“That means…?” Amy asked.
“It means that there’s a spaceship up there somewhere that we need to find!” Despite Rory’s protests, we were up and inside the ship in no time at all. We watched on the scanner as two cybermen talked, discussing how I was alien and their plans to kill the Doctor. And, suicidal madman that the Doctor is, the two of us walked outside into the ship, directing Amy and Rory not to follow us. I didn’t really think they would stay put, but it was worth a shot… well, actually it wasn’t because they came out anyways, in full view of the three cybermen walking towards us. Three different responses came from them:
“You will be upgraded or you will be deleted.” To Amy and Rory.
“You will come with us or you will be deleted.” To me.
“You will be deleted.” To the Doctor.
“See, that’s actually not going to happen…” The Doctor began, off on his usual drabble while he thought of a plan. Finally he gestured at the metal box and winked, ushering Amy and Rory back inside the TARDIS. I took the hint.
“You will come with us.” They said in unison.
“Not where you’re going, bucko.” I cocked my gun and shot the metal box, then immediately turned and ran into the TARDIS. Helping the Doctor bring her into flight.
We parked her on a beach.
“What exactly happened?” Amy asked.
“River blew up the ship, and we flew out before it took us with it!” The Doctor said. Amy and Rory went to change clothes yet again, leaving us alone.
“So… I regenerate with you?” He asked. “How many times?”
“Oh… just a few.” I smiled. I wasn’t telling him a bit.
“Oh, ok, that’s good. Guess I’m not shaking you off anytime soon!”
After i picked up river, Amy, Rory, River and I, were discussing where to go. “A beach? Come on Doctor! We’ve been all over time and space, but never to a beach” Amy whined. ‘I don’t know. Somewhere cool.” said Rory. “Anywhere with you, sweetie” River said. I flipped switches to start the T.A.R.D.I.S. ‘Ponds! Go get your beach clothes!” i said, while they ran to go get beach items from one of the various closets in the TARDIS. A few flipped switches later, i waited for Amy, Rory and River. Out they came, all in various bathing suits, carrying towels. I opened the doors to the tardis “Welcome to…a beach?” i said looking out, seeing white sand? I shivered. nope. Snow. “Oooh….Antarctica! Antarctica. Ok. Well, it’s a beach, sort of…just, kind of, cold?” I offered. They looked slightly annoyed, River went back in to the TARDIS. “I didn’t mean COLD when i said cool, doctor.” Rory said. “Yeah, i get that, Rory. Thanks for pointing it out. You might want to go change in to something a little..” River cut me off, walking out in a fur coat, by saying “Warmer? Way ahead of you, Doctor!” “As always” I said. River smirked. ‘Waaiiiit, we’re staying here?” said Rory. ‘I wanted to go to the beach, but antartica…it’s…cool. Don’t get much snow in deep space, might as well. Come on Rory, let’s go change in to something a little warmer, huh?” said Amy. They charged in to the TARDIS. “Now doctor, this wasn’t an accident. Mind telling me, at least?” River asked, knowing i would answer. “Oh you, i can never fool you can I? Not even for a second?” “No!” “Fine. Picked up a signal. Something alien. Might be nothing, but, hey, you, me, danger? It’s how it always goes, isn’t it?” “Haha. How many regenerations? Different TARDISes? But that’s the one thing that will never change.” Amy and Rory walked out, much warmer, two coats each. “Rory, I’m feeling claustrophobic. Do i need two coats?” Complained Amy. “Oui! Forgive me if i don’t want you to catch cold, Amelia.” sighed Rory. “What are you, my mom?” said Amy. “OUI! Stop it, you two. So Antarctica, let’s go explore!” I said. River smirked. i knew why. The smirk that you have when your parents are fighting over something silly, and you find it funny. Well, off we went, exploring. We walked in to a cave. Sitting in the back was a large ice cube, with something silver in it. “What’s that.” i soniced it. “Not good. Not good at all.” “We should thaw it!” said river completely ignoring me. “Oh, they will be amazed! I’ll be the best archeologist in class!” “NOOO!” It was to late. River had already gotten out her sonic blaster and was thawing it. “DELETE” was the next sound i heard. We ran. ‘River Po- I mean, er. Song. you, had to thaw it, didn’t you? Oh for goodness sake you.had.too.thaw.it!!!” I yelled. Rory and Amy didn’t know yet. I had almost said Pond.”I didn’t know, Sweetie!” “what part of NOT GOOD didn’t you here, dearest?!” “Not.” She smirked. I sighed. We ran in to the tardis. “Why aren’t we leaving?” asked Amy. “Theirs an alien!” said river “He’s an alien!” yelled Amy. We sighed. “Amy, listen. Theirs an alien, yes, but why is it here? why was it frozen? Think Amelia Pond!” She sighed, the sort of sigh that means you-and-your-aliens-doctor! ‘Well stay in the TARDIS then” I said in a joking tone. Never one to miss an adventure, that crazy imposable Amelia Pond. River resembles her so much. “Ok, I have on objection.” began Rory “It’s cold. There is a metal alien outside the door, and he is yelling “delete” which doesn’t sound appealing to me. Anyone with me?” “NO!” we all shouted together. He followed us outside the tardis. “It’s gone!” exclaimed River. “Just…gone.” said Amy “I’m happy about this…is anyone else happy about this?” asked Rory. We pretty much ignored him, Amy gave him a kiss on his forehead. “Now, funny thing…Cybermen are pret-” Amy cut me off “Cyber whats, exactly?” River sighed. “I liked it hen you called them Metal aliens, much less explaining. Let’s just say that they are people in suits that remove emotions, and they want to change everyone in to them.” explained River, half sarcastically. “That clears everything up, thanks river.” said Amy fully sarcastic, rolling her eyes. “Thanks for the interruptions, really, but i’m figuring out things and not aloud and that means i’m going to explain them to you two, (I didn’t include river.) and it’s going to make the whole situation harder. Will anyone care to listen to me for once?” I said, exasperated. “Someone’s grouchy.” -Amy. “Fine”- Rory. “Anything”-River. “Ok! While you all where squabbling, i found a magnificent amount of energy here, thanks to the sonic, probably used as a transport….or a hair dryer, but i’m working on that, hairdryers and sonic’s just don’t mix. Anyways.. because it’s very unlikely the cyberman was drying his hair, then it was probably a transport beam…” ‘Which means?” asked Amy. “It would mean that somewhere up there, there is a spaceship, and on that space ship? probably cybermen” answered river “Yeah, ok, fine. full of aliens, but they are gone now so we can leave go-” Rory started, but we were already in the TARDIS before he was finished. “So then let’s go!” i said, pressing a button.
“Or, i could drive and we could get to the spaceship” said river, already begging to pull switches.
“I am perfectly capable of driving my own tardis, river!”
“Yeah, maybe, sometimes, on special occasions.”
“OI!”
“Shut up and drive!”
A little while later we had landed, engines on silent, and the tardis (almost) completely invisable. River turned on the scanner and we watched.
.
“what shall we do about the doctor, sir?”
“Let him die. He has intentions of messing up our plan to upgrade the earth.”
“He had friends.”
“Humans?”
“Not all of them. One is different…possibly alien…” River smiled a little. Amy and Rory stared. “Uh, long story….I’ll explain later” i said.
“Upgrade the others…bring me the different one…”
“yes sir. the different one will be yours.”
I thought it was a perfect time to reveal ourselves. They wanted to kill me, capture River, and upgrade Amy and Rory, plus the rest of the world. That was all i needed to know. “Ok, well, River come with me. Amy, Rory, stay. here. at all costs, don’t come out. I have a plan. I said when me and river where out and the cybermen where on red alert, i said “You know, Rory, Amy, you aren’t good at hideing.unless you want to be upgraded, why don’t you come over here.” Amy and Rory waved from behind the tardis.
“you will be upgraded or you will be deleted.” Said the one in front of any and Rory
“you will come with me or be deleted” This one was talking about River.
“you will be deleted” This one, to me.
“See, none of that is going to happen.” i said, “Because i am the doctor, and this is the tardis, and these are my friends, and if you are on the wrong side of us, -whew- you aren’t in luck.” “You should run” River said, trying to help. “your death.” Amy said. ‘Uh, yeah, because we’ve got…well, um, not to spoil it, but what have we got, doctor?” this one was from Rory.”A plan” me and River said. ‘First I’ll give you the chance to go, because- well- because frankly, i’m in a nice mood. But if you don’t, if you still threaten my friends and i, it will be your own doing”
“We do not fear you, doctor” the cybermen said. “Well, you should. River,” i said pointing to a metel box, “Will you?” “Of course. Amy, Rory, in to the tardis, don’t ask questions, go.” said River. “Doctor, push the blue button left the the stablize-” i cut her off. “I know what to do!” i ran in to the tardis only to pop my head out a second later. “Blue ones, right?” i asked, completely embarrassed. “Yes dear, go quickly!” I pushed them, outside i knew exactly what was happining. River was aiming her blaster, and with one shot, the whole ship would explode. A second later she ran in the tardis and pushed a yellow button. We instantly appeared in front of a beach. “What just happened? Ooooh beach!” said Amy. “Well, River exploded the ship, and we flew out before any harm came to us.” Amy and Rory shook their heads and ran off to change, leaving me and river alone. “So. I regenerate with you? About how many times?” “Ohhh.. a few.” River answered me. “Oh. Ok then. Guess I’m not shaking you off anytime soon then.” We laughed.

The Doctor picked me up from my apartment today. Hmm, I used to write the bookshop, but Catie’s running it now. I work as a teacher at a local college while I’m trying for my PHd- what a change. I can see it as I flip through the pages of this book. Where we ended up wasn’t too far in the future- maybe eighty years. We walked down the street to the museum, which sort of surprised me.
“Doctor, haven’t you been to a thousand museums more impressive than this one?” I asked. He shrugged.
“Probably, but I got a message from a friend on the psychic paper. You know how that goes.” I nodded. I knew all too well. Anyways, we walked in to see this new traveling exhibit on aliens, and he stopped short when caught sight of…
“My blaster?” I asked.
“Not yours. A friend of mine’s that I kept for him- it’s just fallen into your possession. Though I imagine he probably wants it back.”
“Doctor, that’s probably not-” He sonicked the case open, grabbed the blaster, told me to meet him in the park in a few minutes, and ran off. Great. The alarm started to blare and I ran, too, ducking down an alley close by to try to shake security. There was the TARDIS. Thinking he was inside, I ran up, unlocked the door and popped my head in.
“Quick doctor, they’re on to us! I told you not to take that thing from the museum, even if it was yours!” He looked completely astounded to see me.
“I….what? wait. What? howww….”
“Doctor! Don’t play games with me, now RUN!” His face lit up with realization.
“I…oh.”
“Oh, what?”
“Oh, what, you’re on an adventure with a future me… oh.” Oh. Past Doctor. There’s two of them now… great.
“Oh! Like… oh! Sorry, then… we should probably do diaries…”
“Most likely. Daleks?”
“Got ‘em.”
“We’ve done Camelot, right?”
“Yes! Then I know exactly where we are.”
“Me, too. Anyways… future me? Shall we get going, then? I nodded and ran out, remembering the ring on my finger- silver with blue stones set in. I slipped it off my hand and onto a chain around my neck- he wouldn’t have done that yet. When we got to the park there was no one there, so past Doctor hid behind a bush to wait on the other Doctor. When he got there he swaggered over with his usual “get down to business” look.
“Now, before we tend to the matter at hand, may I say- Oi me! I know you’re back there! Perhaps you want to stop gawking at River’s jewelry and get over here!”
“How did you know he-you- were back there? And what do you mean about my jewelry?” I asked.
“I remember hiding back there.” He said, ignoring the jewelry bit. “Now, off we go!” We ran back to the museum where we were greeted by an American in a trench coat. The Doctors had a brief conversation about Torchwood while I talked to him.
“Hello, there.” He said. I could tell he thought he was a player.
“You must be Jack.” I said. The Doctor had told me a little about him. He nodded and about that time the Doctors walked over.
“Doctor. And… Doctor. Two?”
“Yeah, I think your message might have gone wrong, though. And don’t bother with River, she’s taken.” Present Doctor said.
“By who?”
“Me.” They both responded. He leaned over to me.
“You don’t want to know what I just thought.” He whispered. I tried really, really hard to stop from laughing, but failed miserably. “Anyways, Daleks have invaded Torchwood. They’re everywhere!” He said.
“Daleks? Hmm…” He ran off into the TARDIS and pushed a button, and we could see the Daleks all… stop… on the scanner. He explained how they’d come from a common germ, and you stop the germ and the Daleks all go away. They were just empty shells now- armor with no pilot.
“I saw myself do it a long time ago.” He said, in response to our shock. Jack said his goodbyes and thanks, and walked off. The present Doctor went off to go get the TARDIS to bring it back here, although I would have been perfectly happy walking. This left the past Doctor and I alone.
“River. About your jewelry. Specifically your ring… it’s not…is it?” So he’d guessed.
“I’m afraid it is, Doctor.” I smiled mischievously. I loved toying with him.
“Who’s the lucky guy then?” He said, looking a bit defeated.
“I think you probably know.” I said, glancing at the band as I slipped it back on my hand.
“No!” He said. I looked up. “No- I didn’t mean it like…not no like no… no like… it’s not what it sounded like! Oh… you know what I meant.” I laughed. I love it when he’s confused. The present TARDIS appeared.
“Yes.” I said.
“When?” He asked. This was one thing I could tell him- can’t afford to mess this up.
“Not long for you. Just after the Cybermen.”
“Well, then, go on!” He said, gesturing to the TARDIS. “Go have adventures! Go marry me!” He said. I smiled and ran inside.

I was in London, in the future sometime, sort of well…not doing much, which isn’t very characteristic of me. But I put the tardis on “scan” to see where there was alien trouble and this is where she popped up, along with a message that said “Doctor! we need your help come quick-Jack.” All of the sudden, River ran up to me and said “Quick doctor, they’re on to us! I told you not to take that thing from the museum, even if it was yours!” “I….what? wait. What? howww….” I said confused. “Doctor! Don’t play games with me now, RUN!”
“I…oh!”
“Oh what?”
“Oh, like you are on an adventure with a future me…oh.”
“Oh! Like….oh! Sorry then…we should probably do diary’s then…”
“Most likely. Daleks?”
“Got ‘em”
“We’ve done Camelot, right?”
“Yeah! Then i know where we are.”
“Me too. Anyways….future me? Shall we get going then?”
She laughed. “Where?” “Future me! interesting. The tardis would never take me to a future me unless something was wrong. We’ve got to find out what it is!” She paused. “I should probably get back to…well, er. you.” We paused. She looked confused, probably because the last time i interacted with my future self…well…the universe blew up. I explained that since the whole universe probably was in trouble, one more thing couldn’t hurt. Before she could reply a police man- whom i’m no assuming was the man chasing river and the doctor- started running towards us. We ran until we reached a small park not far from where we were, where future me was. “Um, well i know me, and i think i’d be pretty stunned if i walked in on myself….so I’ll….” “Hide? There should be a bush” she scanned the surronding area “right there. Hurry up” She said pointing to a small- but big enough to hide behind- bush. She walked up to future me when i noticed something around her neck. I had seen her slip something on a string out of the corner of my eye when she found out i was past me. It was shiny. With a little blue-ish purple-ish gleam to it.A Diamond…diamond ring? why would she slip it off her finger? Unless…. My thoughts were interrupted by a -well my- voice saying “Oui me! I know your there! Perhaps you want to stop gawking at River’s jewelry and get over here.” I jumped from behind the bush and river looked surprised. “Doctor! I mean, er, doctors.. how did you know that he -well you- was back there? And what do you mean gawking at my jewelry?” “Simple! I Remember hiding back there!” future me said, probably avoiding River’s second question. “Alright then” I began “Something’s wrong. Probably something dangerous. Shall we go poke it with a stick?” Future me stopped, raising his eyebrows, then said “Well, yeah, i guess, we should go this way!” We ran towards a museum, where apparently they had stolen something. We ran towards a display that had some old alien stuff in it. “I didn’t think much of this when we came in..but I have a feeling that it has something to do with me being here.” We walked towards the display. In it was a small gun belonging to none other than Capetian Jack. “Torchwood?” i asked future me, figuring torchwood had something to do with it. “Yep. Why i came here in the first place, actually, got a message on the physic. You?” “Put the tardis and scan and this is where she ended, with a message that said “Doctor! we need your help come quick-Jack.” “Same message on my physic.” While we were thinking about where torchwood could be, river sort of fiddled around impatiently. Capetian Jack actually ended up finding us. “Doctor!. Oh!” he exclaimed, pointing at us both. “Two?” he asked. ‘I think your message might have gone wrong..” Future me answered. Turns out that jack had messaged the tardis, figured that I wasn’t in it, and messaged my physic. The messages went wrong, and ended up in different times. Simple really. “Whats this you need our help about?” I asked. “Daleks! They have invaded all of torchwood. We don’t know how they got in, one second completely fine then, DALEKS!” We went to torchwood in the tardis. He was right, daleks were everywhere. “Simple!” said future me running in to the tardis. He pressed a button that was supposed to sanitize large areas, sometimes planets, from common (Well, common for me. Most humans wouldn’t have a clue to what they are) germs. The daleks stopped. We were all pretty confused, future me explained. “The daleks used a common germ, plus some dalek dna to create new daleks, the daleks invading you, jack. The only reason they were living was because of this germ, by simply disinfecting the area, we remove that germ and no more daleks!” “Doctor!” river said. “How could you possible know to do that?” “Simple! A while ago-well, a long time ago- i remember watching me do it! Thank you past me!” said future me. “Ok….let me wrap my head around this…” River began. “Don’t try. It doesn’t go all the way around” i said. This kind of thing had happened before i remember it from both regenerations well. We went back to the tardis. Future me said he would go get future tardis….although he didn’t really have a reason. I figured I had a purpose, and i was probably about to find out what it was. “River. About your jewelry..specifically your ring, it’s not, is it?” I asked. “I’m afraid it is, Doctor.” she said, smirking. “Whose the lucky guy then?” “You’ve probably guessed it.” she said getting out the ring and putting it on, looking fondly at the diamond. “oh! No! but! i mean, not no, like no, but like, oh i mean i didn’t mean to say that like it sounded, i didn’t mean no i meant…” River laughed. “Yep.” she said. Smiling. “when?” “Not long, after cybermen.” “Well, then. Go ahead River, go love me, have adventures!” We smiled at each other. I purposed to that girl, i thought.

I walked down the sidewalk from my apartment to the shop, backpack in hand, and tired as I don’t know what. Night classes were wearing me out. I loved archeology, the Doctor was right, but it was really tiresome trying to run a small business and go to school, too. Somehow I managed to conk out in a back room in the shop next to a pile of books while going over some information about Amy and Rory’s wherabouts. Catie didn’t wake me up, but guess who did?
“Melody? Melody?” A soft female voice said, tapping my shoulder. I groaned stiffly and ignored them. “Someone here to see you.” I really didn’t care.
“River!” My eyes snapped open.
“Hello, Doctor.” I yawned. He took my hand and pulled me up.
“Night classes, eh?” I nodded. “Well, how do you feel about a break from that?” He asked. Where are we?” Catie covered her mouth to keep from laughing and walked out. I pulled out my diary.
“Camelot?” I asked.
“Yes! I’ve got Camelot.”
“Silence in the Tardis?”
“What?” He asked, completely surprised.
“Never mind.” I said. “But first I need to ask you something.” Something had been bugging me for a while about what would happen if I actually found Amy and Rory. “If I actually did manage to find Amy and Rory now, in the present day… I wouldn’t cause a paradox or anything, would I?” He raised his eyebrows.
“No. Shouldn’t. Not unless you mess with your own past or change your past somehow…Which you shouldn’t, seeing as if they’re here, they’re not with me. In fact, me talking to you now is more likely to cause a paradox than you seeing them, so-” He picked up the leads I had. “Let’s go.” He bounded out the door. Wait? What? I shrugged and took off.
“Doctor!” I called, startling some people in the otherwise quiet shop. “Wait! Where are going?” He unlocked the TARDIS and stepped inside.
“We’re going to find Amy and Rory!” He said, feeding the information into the TARDIS. I patted the console hello and glanced at the scanner.
“Leadworth?” He said, a little disgusted. “They’re still in Leadworth? Oh, no wait- London. They’re visiting Leadworth on holiday to see the family, so I hope you don’t mind meeting your grandparents!” He flipped a switch and the whole room jerked. I didn’t have time to think as I tried to steady the console room, but after we landed I sort of… flipped.
“Grandparents? What am I supposed to do? I’ve never even met them- do they know I exist? And what are Amy and Rory going to do when they see me coming?” We walked down a narrow street in what screamed to me as a “sleepy little town.” The Doctor led me down a side street to where several people were talking in front of a big, 2 story house. He gripped my shoulders and pulled me behind a large oak tree.
“Listen. You have to be strong here. This is your choice. This doesn’t have to happen. Nothing’s happened so far that says it does. You don’t have to do this.” I glanced over towards the lawn. Talking, laughing.
“Yes I do.” I said. I stepped out from behind the tree and walked down the drive. Amy was the first to look- she was still thin as a rake, but she looked older. There were smile lines on her face and her hair had just a touch of gray. She ran down the drive towards me, and soon I was running into her open arms, faces buried in each other’s hair.
“Melody. I was beginning to think you weren’t coming.” She said. A second or two later Rory joined the hug.
“Oi! No hugging without me.” He said. The he called out. “Doctor, I know you’re here! Get over here.” I turned my face enough to see him step out from behind the trees and come over. I pulled him into the growing group hug.
“Do you want to meet your grandparents?” Amy asked. I nodded and she led me over. A tall woman with light red hair walked over, followed by a shorted bald man. The other two people sort of hung back a little. She looked at me a little strangely, like she didn’t quite know who I was.
“Melody? My little melody?” She asked. “The last time I saw you I could hold you in my arms.”
“You still can.” I said, hugging her. I tried not to cry, but failed rather miserably. Eventually the conversation got back around to the Doctor, and before I could say another word Amy filled it in for me.
“He’s her- um- boyfriend.” She said. Something immediately flared up in my chest, almost like pain, but not quite there… So… you can imagine what track that went. I won’t waste time and paper telling you. Then the Doctor took me back to the shop and joked about me resuming my nap.
“Possibly.” I said.
“Trust me, it’ll be worth it.” he said. “Here’s your goodnight kiss.” Well, no need to explain what happened next… until Catie walked in on us.
“You really like that guy, don’t you?” She asked after he’d gone. My reply? I may never write it down.
So, today was the day I got to meet my grandparents.
Today was also the day when I finally admitted to myself how much I love him.
I must have scared River to death when i (literally!) picked her up today. When she forgave me for nearly knocking her off the ladder, we got in to the tardis. After the conversation we had a while back- for once, we were almost in the correct time line- she always greeted the tardis. The Tardis tolerated river, now. Probably because she didn’t have much of a choice….I told river that we were going to Camelot, she raised her eyebrows, doubtingly. I told her that every legend had it’s roots- neglecting to tell her that most of the roots were me. We arrived- and river was in much need of a costume change. “Go change your clothes, you stick out a little.” “Ha! Coming from Mr. Bow-tie over there” River replied, but she changed none the less. Badly- but she wasn’t going to do what i said so why bother? We walked a while and river- being the little archeologist in training she is- was absolutely blown away. I mentioned about her being the first archeologist to ever actually be right- to which she replied “Archeologist? I was thinking of taking night classe- Haha, spoilers, Doctor.” “Take them river, you’ll be great one day.” She was about to say something, but was distracted by a box. I looked over it was just a box, it flashed in to a metal box then back.
“What was it?” she asked asked. “Something alien?”
“Something very, very alien- that’s a Sontaran teleport module!” I said, I ran to the gates. . “It need to speak to the king!” I said. They obviously said no. Humans i thought, always sooo paranoid, but completely ignorant to the fact that there is hundreds of aliens up there waiting to defeat their tiny little planet. “It’s important- Camelot is under attack-” They laughed. of course. I was about to say something really clever when River pulled out my sonic soniced the gates, and let us through “You know,” she mumbled, ” i really do have to get me one of these”. Then we ran to King Arthur. We had a brief discussion in which i introduced my self as ‘Merlin’ and River introduced herself as “Gwendolyn” I had never heard of her in the stories. Interesting. Then i told them about the sontarans, and every thing, to which he replied,“I believe you.” He said. “You’ve seen the stars, I can see it in your ancient eyes. So old for such a young man. And your friend,” He looked at river for a second, “She has a noble heart. Courageous, strong- the heart of a warrior and the spirit of a sorceress.” He turned back to me. “What must we do?” I told him my plan. Pretty simple. Sneak around on there ship and defeat them. easy. Long story short, Hello, legend of Merlin and Gwendolyn, Bye-bye Sontarans! Later on the tardis i asked river who Gwendolyn was. To which, after a quick kiss- she replied “Merlin’s Wife!”

Date: 1200 AD. Sometime in July
The Doctor picked me up from the bookshop today; nearly scared the life out of me. I was in the back putting some books on the higher shelves, when suddenly the ladder I’m standing on moves! I would have fell about five feet to the ground if somebody hadn’t caught my waist, and when I looked down… guess who it was?
After chewing him out for tripping on the ladder and nearly causing me to fall, I climbed down and he smiled his cheeky smile.
“Well? Where’s my hug?” He said. I threw my arms around his neck and he picked me up, sort of half spinning me in a circle.
“It’s been waiting.” I said. “I’ve just done… Cybermen.” He shook his head.
“Been jumping around a bit. But I know where you are.” I walked outside to where the TARDIS was parked on the sidewalk. He glanced in either direction, then stepped inside.
“Hello, there girl!” I said, speaking to the TARDIS. She mechanically gurgled in response. The Doctor always jokes with me about talking to the TARDIS, but she is alive so it seems rather rude not to.
“So, where are we going?” I asked. He flipped a switch.
“Oh, about… 1200 AD.” He said. The console room lurched and we were off. “I’ve been investigating a bit about Camelot.” He said as we stepped out. That threw me for a loop.
“Camelot? But that’s not real- it’s a legend!” I said. He pointed behind me.
“All fiction has its roots in fact. See for yourself.”
